Concept:

There is a blogging awakening in Zambia, many professionals have taken to writing; some social & political commentary, others technical & professional. Now, these blogs are on various platforms from social media to designated blog hosting sites. Further, the quality of these blogs appears on both extremes; it is therefore difficult for readers to determine beforehand what is worth their time. This project will promote quality blogging & enhance the Zambian reading culture with a secondary objective of linking bloggers to publishers. The foregoing will be achieved through a blog competition, with four categories: Science & Technology, Economics & Finance, Politics & Philosophy (including religion) and Humanities & Other.

Project Time Frame: On-going Funding Sources: Wesbr Foundation, Corporate Sponsors,
Concept:

There are observably creative content creators on social media in Zambia. Content is sometimes memes, art and subject matter short literature. Consumers of art and subject matter literature ideally wish to read or view art that is high quality, possibly peer reviewed and housed by in an organized fashion.  On the other hand, content creators would want their content peer reviewed and be projected for publication. This project will aim to achieve both these goals. It will carefully select the best bloggers by category and set up a peer review system as well as manage the blogs with a view to link bloggers to  publishers.

5.0  Wesbr Mentorship Program

Project Name: Wesbr Mentorship Program Project Location: Lusaka,
Target Beneficiaries: Pupils, Students and Young Professionals. Thematic Area: Mentorship
Collaborators: University & College Associations, Professional Associations and School Clubs & Societies SDG: Quality Education
Project Start Date: Wednesday, August 1, 2018 Overseeing Trustee: Dr. Anthony Simpasa
Project Time Frame: Long Term  Envisaged Funding Sources: Donor Agencies, Corporates, Crowd Fund and Wesbr Foundation
Concept:

Everyone needs a more experienced individual in their preferred pursuits to guide, motivate and inspire them – a Mentor. Evidently, pupils and students whose pursuits are guided by mentors generally have higher trajectories. Formal mentorship is however deficient in both grade school and tertiary institutions. This Program will attempt to remedy this cost effectively by matching mentors to mentees. The program will be two tier; expert mentoring and peer to peer mentoring. Prior to matching, screening and background checks of the mentors will be carried out, including police clearance.

6.0  Wesbr TVET Linked Business Development

Project Name: Wesbr TVET Linked Business Development Project Reach: Lusaka for phase one and across Zambia onwards
Target Beneficiaries: TVET Students & Graduates and TVET Institutions Thematic Area: Microeconomic Empowerment
Collaborators: TEVETA, Business Accelerators and TVET Institutions SDG: Decent work and economic growth
Project Start Date: Wednesday, August 1, 2018 Overseeing Trustee: Mr. Wiza Ng’ambi
Project Time Frame: Long Term  Envisaged Funding Sources: Donor Agencies, Corporates, Crowd Fund and Wesbr Foundation
Concept:

TVET Students view TVET programs as their second chance at decent work and comfortable living. Unfortunately, most TVET programs are inadequate for this outcome. Most are compressed with practical skills in under a year with a small entrepreneurship add-in, this unfortunately leaves little prospect for meaningful self-employment. Trainers are in any case too overwhelmed to develop bankable business plans for each of the students and later on provide adequate mentorship and guidance throughout the business development phase. This project will attempt to solve this problem, it will enlist the input of professionals actively in industry in the development of business plans and provision of guidance & business mentorship for each student or small student groups.
